Fifteen years ago, Juliana Velez accompanied a family to meet with an attorney. The family was very worried and their need was great.
Juliana hadn’t started college yet. She had a note pad with her during the meeting and she wrote furiously throughout the meeting. She interpreted in her native Spanish patiently and compassionately. She asked her own questions out of concern for the people who had enlisted her help and who trusted her.
I was the fortunate and very impressed attorney with whom Juliana and the family relying upon her met. There were several follow-up meetings and Juliana demonstrated the same intensity, diligence and compassion every time.
As soon as we had an opening in our support staff the following year, I contacted Juliana and asked her to try working at our firm. The expansion of her abilities and talents ever since then have been extraordinary to behold.
During the December holidays, our clients, our people, beat a path to her desk with gifts and cards and thanks.
Juliana rises every morning at 4:30. She takes beautiful care of her daughter, trains at Cross Fit and then reports to work.
And when her work day is done, she saddles her horse and rides up the Merritt Parkway to Quinnipiac Law School where she attends classes at night.
Really. WOW.
I am tremendously proud of Juliana. She impacts people every day. She advocates and passionately protects our people.
She is our Practice Manager. She is the boss of policies, procedures, client care, dotting i’s, crossing t’s and making it happen.
