At The Maddox Law Firm, LLC, we are extraordinarily fortunate. We are privileged because people from all walks of life, different cultures and languages, come to us for our help, advocacy and protection.
We represent the marginalized, disadvantaged and underprivileged. We also represent people who are exceptionally privileged, informed and cared-for. And we represent every type of person in between.
But there are some common denominators amongst all of our people.
They need a lawyer and staff who listen. This means sincere, active, and sometimes prolonged listening; without the lawyer or paralegal or anyone else saying a word. They need reassurance. Then, after the listening, which is ongoing throughout the relationship, and after the reassurance, which must be regularly reinforced, our clients need demonstrated attention to detail, concern, and, of course, intense advocacy.
It doesn’t matter who you are, when you seek legal counsel, you need all of the above. And you need a law firm that is driven and inspired to model all of those skills consistently and with appetite.
My sense is that if 2017 and the ensuing years are like the past 25 years of my practice, peoples’ need for listening, compassion, sincere interest and multi-disciplinary problem solving will continue to increase. We are living in a time of seemingly heightened tension and strife. The practice of law requires attorneys to on the one hand, confront and fight, but on the other hand to mine deeply within our reserves to seek resolutions and work to restore our clients’ sense of peace.
I’m looking forward to the challenges that face us in 2017. I’m looking forward to the fights and every opportunity that arises to restore peace, one client at a time.
